Horse Racing Tip - February 29, 2008Had a very successful month of February and I hope our selections and analysis made racing more enjoyable for you. As March is upon us, tomorrow we will update the three-year-old picture as the Spring Classics are now only two months away. The "prep" races will be increasing in frequency as well as their importance. It's always an exciting time if you follow the game on a regular basis. Today's wagering menu consists of three races from Aqueduct and one from Gulfstream. Today's Best Bet is #7 War Song in Race #1 at Gulfstream Park. Thursday's Results: Aqueduct Race #4 Top Pick Winner #3 (Ommadon's Storm) result $6.10. Exacta (3-5) result $35.00.Gulfstream Park Race #6 Top Pick Winner #7 (Personal Ties) result $3.80. Exacta top with second (7-11) result $19.40.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 1) MORE THAN COOLIN - Freshened up by trainer Bruce Levine after making one start for him in December. Ran second in a maiden at Churchill when trained by Greg Foley. Big speed on display in his one start here in a race that became a "key" one. Needs to break running from the rail. (# 5) Megalodon - Very good barn (Jim Ryerson) and an underrated one. He's been freshened up for exactly three months and this $310,000 two-year-old purchase has a great drill on Feb. 25 for his return. Almost put him on top. (# 6) Unbridled Wish - Has finished second in three of six lifetime starts. Has some speed and comes back from Philly Park with a very fast work on Feb. 25. Nice post to stalk from. GULFSTREAM PARK Race #ONE (1:15 PM Eastern) (# 7) WAR SONG - Has a pair of starts under his belt after being away almost two months. Trainer Mike McDonald sent him a mile against $25,000 foes and then cut his tag in half and sprinted him. Showed good speed in both and he faced some real speed-balls in latest. Stretches back out to a mile, and from this fine outside draw he's the controlling speed. (# 2) First Prince - Has had a lot of chances, but his experience against a mostly lightly-raced group is important. Other than the top pick who began in MSW races, this group all started their careers near the bottom with little or no expectations. This horse has proven that he can pass some in the stretch. (# 1) Felted - From a good win early trainer (Terry Oliver) he improved in his second race to close late for second sprinting. Looks like he has some ability, but draws the tricky rail post at this one-turn mile. (# 4) Katheysluckeycharm - Has a trio of sprints since returning from an October layoff. Has been running and finishing evenly in those three and tries a mile for the first time. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:50 PM Eastern) (# 8) CHANCED - Logical selection and probable favorite drops into a claimer for the first time and may just be too much for these to handle. Filly looks like the main speed and will be tough to down. (# 3) Fiddlers Fever - Has some ability and everything hinges on whether someone can help soften up the favorite. This filly has good stamina and is the field's best finisher. Looks like a two-horse race on paper. (# 6) Sonic Sound - Has finished far back in her first pair going long at the MSW level. Drops into a claimer and the price reduction may allow her to finish "on the board." Trifecta candidate. (# 5) Tiz The Moon - Gets blinkers and stretches out off of three sprints. May have the best chance of running a bit with the top pick. Another tri possibility. AQUEDUCT Race #EIGHT (3:45 PM Eastern) (# 3) FAHRENHEIT WILD - Lightly-raced runner us stretched out today and comes back quickly for him (19 days). Broke his maiden on this surface and distance in the fall of 2006. Very sharp in his latest, he comes into this with a great work on Feb. 24. The horse to beat. (# 5) Jack's Express - Claimed out of a fine try last Sunday, as this runner made a strong move into a slow pace won in wire-to-wire style by a runner in great shape. Comes back quickly for the Contessa barn and there is not much pace on view. Expect him to be up and on the pace. (# 2) Stopbluffing - Stalker has regressed in his last pair, though he raced wide in one and stumbled in the other.
