Game: Florida at TAMPA BAY (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Florida +124
Florida has won 8 of 9 and now see the playoffs in their sights. They know they need this one to keep hope alive. So, we get a "needy" underdog here which is always good. Florida can beat the Lightning as the Panthers are 9-5 against winning teams in the second half of the season. They have really picked up their scoring, posting 3.6 goals per game over their last five games. And, Tampa's defense remains suspect. Florida in this one.
Game: Columbus at NASHVILLE (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Columbus +215
We've banked this season fading Columbus on the road but the tides have changed. The Blue Jackets have now won five straight games including at St. Louis and at Detroit (where they won at +350!). They are believing now and they have a shot in this one. They come off a 5-2 triumph over Chicago and they are now 8-2 on the last three seasons off a game in which they scored 5+ goals. Columbus beat Nashville in January and the way they are playing now (winning by average score of 4.2 to 2.2 over their last five), anything can happen tonight. Especially knowing that Nashville has averaged 4.4 goals allowed over their last five. Take Columbus at the better than 2-to-1 odds.
Game: Chicago at COLORADO (9:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Colorado -330
We haven't backed the up-and-down Avs much lately but I like 'em in this spot. They hang on to a one-point lead over Vancouver for sixth place in the Western and they have a chance here to gain ground on Calgary. Chicago has lost 9 of their last 12 games and faces a well rested Colorado team that is 13-1 this season when playing with 2 days rest. April underdogs that have lost 6 or 7 of their last 8 games are just 7-28 (20%) over the last five seasons. Colorado is 20-14 at home while Chicago is 10-27 on the road where they allow 3.9 goals per game. Colorado, averaging 3.7 goals scored per game at home this year will crush the Blackhawks.
