****Kent State -2 over TOLEDO (8:00 Eastern)
Kent State is rolling. What you have here is a classic mismatch between a team that is top 70 in the nation in Power Ratings versus a team in the top 160 in Power Ratings. The difference here is the home court for the weaker team. Does this make a differnece - sometimes it does - but not with Kent State. Kent State is 15-6 on the year and 6-3 on the road. They went on the road to beat tougher conference teams in Ohio and Northern Illinois who are both ranked higher and are better teams than Toledo. Furthermore, Kent is 6-1 against teams ranked 100 or higher and 5-1 against such teams on the road.
Let's ride Kent and their hot streak against Toledo on what should be a tight game that has Kent prevailing in the end. Four stars on Kent State.
***Wichita State/N IOWA OVER 125 (8:00 Eastern)
Northern Iowa has gone OVER 5 of their last 7 games and Wichita St is coming off a big over (covering by 18 points). They scored 74 points the game before (total of 140) in the last 5 games for each of these teams they are averaging 70ppg each (also a 140 total). In away games this year Wichita St is scoring 67ppg and in home games Northern Iowa is scoring 73ppg. Don't look now but that too is 140 total points. The central theme here is that these two teams match up quite well, play similar styles of basketball and should be part of a well played basketball game with quite a lot of scoring. Look for the 125 total in this game to be passed well before the final buzzer. Three stars on the OVER.
***Missouri -2 over BAYLOR (8:00 Eastern)
It isn't often that a 1-7 team who is 3-5 ATS hardly gives points to a 10-10 team, but that is the match up we have for you today. Missouri has not been playing great basketball the past few weeks but have been traveling around quite a bit in that period of time. This team (Missou) still scores over 67ppg, while Baylor is hardly scoring over 55ppg. It should also be noted that Baylor scores even slightly less than 55ppg when playing at home. Baylor's only win this season was two days ago, at home, in OT and was against a struggling Kansas St team. Baylor has not played quality basketball all season and surely can not match the points that Missouri has the ability to put up. Look for Missouri to have better athletes, better coaches, and a better score when this game ends. Take Missouri giving the small number for three stars.
**Providence +4.5 over DePAUL (8:30 Eastern)
These two basketball teams surely play a different style of basketball. Providence looks to move the ball and push it up the court every chance it gets, trying to get into a high scoring game, lots of turnover possibilities and force the other team to use their bench to refresh their players. DePaul likes to keep things slow in the half-court game and work the ball into the low post. While Providence gets 76ppg and gives up almost 75, DePaul puts up 65ppg and their opponents score almost 69. These numbers don't change much in home and away games and have been pretty steady in the past 5 games played by each of these teams. Providence played well against St Johns in their last game and are going to keep playing quality basketball like that. DePaul is starting to fall apart slightly and have gone 0-3 ATS in their past 3 home games. I like Providence getting the points in this close game. Providence for two stars.
