**ATLANTA
-157 over Cincinnati (1:05 Eastern)
Cincinnati
dropped their fifth in a row yesterday while Atlanta
has now won six of their last eight. The Braves
are now 7-2 vs. the Reds this season. This afternoon,
the hot Horacio Ramirez gets the call for Atlanta
(2.86 ERA over his last three and 2.92 at home
overall this season). He'll enjoy the run support
from a team that's averaging 5.3 runs per game
at home and 5.6 per game overall in their last
seven. As stated yesterday, Cincinnati's offense
has gone in the tank as they are now averaging
just 3.0 runs per game over their last seven. Two
stars on the Bravos who should probably be closer
to -200 favorites in our humble opinion.
*San
Diego -137 over MILWAUKEE (2:05 Eastern)
Jacob
Peavy goes for the Pads this afternoon. He
comes in with a 3.01 ERA that's been even better
lately (2.08 over his last three starts). Backing
him up is an excellent bullpen with a 3.61
road ERA this year. As a favorite over the
past two seasons, Peavy is 33-9. The Padres
have re-discovered their bats, having scored
5.3 per game over their last seven games. They've
scored 5 or more runs in five of their last
six games. Milwaukee runs will be at a premium
today and we'll back the Pads for one star.
***COLORADO
-120 over LA Dodgers (3:05 Eastern)
The
Rockies have found some serious momentum over
the past couple of weeks. Winners of seven
of ten, they have schellacked the Dodgers
over the past two games by a combined score
of 22-4. This afternoon they get to tee off
on Edwin Jackson who has been bad in his two
starts this year. Zach Day gets the call for
Colorado and he's got a 2.19 home ERA this
season and a 2.81 overall ERA over the past
three games. Colorado hits very well at home
and now that their pitching has returned to
respectability, they are a force. All season
long they have teed off on weak bullpens like
LA's as they are 26-7 at home vs. bullpens
with a WHIP of 1.450 to 1.550 over the past
two seasons. Teams off a game in which they
allowed 1 run or less facing an opponent off
2 straight
losses by 8 runs or more. are 31-10 (76%) since
1997. We have momentum here and a very different
Colorado Rockies club that the public has yet
to catch on to. As a result, great line value.
Three stars on the Rocks.
