Season Week 3 Welcome
to the 2002 Preseason Week 3 Wunderdog NFL Newsletter The
Wunderdog felt a bit robbed in week 2 as
the Panthers fumbled against the Cowboys
late in the 4th quarter at mid-field
on their way to potentially tying
the game or pulling ahead. I guess that's
the way the ball bounces. Anyway, a push
is better than a loss. My other highly
rated picks (DET, NO, and CHI) all covered
so this week I will take a clue and share
multiple picks. On to week 3...
As
you should have guessed by the name, the
Wunderdog strictly picks underdogs. I believe
there is great value in dogs in the NFL.
With the right research, I have been able
to successfully spot the Rodney Dangerfield's
of the NFL - teams that get no respect
(but should) in certain situations. This
week, we have three such attractive dogs.
In
week 3 of the NFL preseason, we are much
more likely to see the "real" teams
show up as coaches want to make sure their
teams are ready for the upcoming season.
The first-teamers will get more of a work-out
before resting in the final game of the
season. So watch for the "cream to
rise" during week 3...
Tennessee
+6 vs. Minnesota
Can
you say mis-match? Here we have a far superior
team in Tennessee getting 4 points from
a team that stunk it up last year (24th
in points-for and 26th in points-against).
The Titans have momentum and confidence
coming off back-to-back home wins. Tennessee
is eager to make amends for an off-year
after back-to-back 13-3 seasons. Eddie
George is back and the Titans will be,
too.
Atlanta +3.5 vs. Dallas
Both teams come into this game on a roll,
having won two straight. Teams coming off
two consecutive SU and ATS wins at home historically
fair very well in the preseason. As we noted
last week, Campo historically performs poorly
in the preseason (although he is 2-0 this
year) while Reeves performs well in the preseason.
Take the dog getting over a field goal.
The
Wunderdog also expects an up and coming Cleveland (+4.5) squad
to cover against Green Bay.
