It was a longtime ago, and I can’t recall the exact year, but I’d have to say I was around 13 or 14 years old. I have an older brother, eight years my senior. I recalled him betting lightly on some sporting events, and it always caught my interest. I’d find myself with a routing interest on the team my brother bet on. I recall one day just prior to a Michigan vs Ohio St. game, he was making his usual call to his friends debating on which side to take. I knew where the next call was going, and that was to the local bookie, so I chimed in and asked him to put 1 time in for me.

This was quite sometime ago, and I was familiar with the betting language from listening to my brother. One time meant wagering 6 dollars to win 5, quite a lot of money for me, but I wanted to try. he looked at me kind of strangely, and asked me if I had the money, to which I answered yes, and I remember the rush of watching that game. We were both on Michigan, me because I loved those helmets, him because discussions he had with his expert buddies dictated so. I don’t remember the final score, but I remember I won the wager, and when the following Thursday came I was so happy to have him hand me a nice crisp lincoln! I was instantly hooked, and became a regular gambler, and lost like most until I became a sports investor. This of course took countless hours, but I finally figured it out after many a year. I would say even though I attended the University of Connecticut, this degree in sports wagering cost me a whole lot more in both dollars, and time. So now we have Michigan vs Ohio St. in a true rivalry, both coming in unbeaten. The past 21 years has seen the team coming in with the better record going 6-12 ATS (sometimes records were even). Michigan has not come into this game the last 21 years with more than 3 losses, which speaks volumes for the consistency of this storied program. The worst stretch of games in recent memory for the Buckeyes occured in the mid 90s, as 3 times they brought undefeated teams into this game and lost! The only time in the last 21 years Michigan brought an unbeaten team into this game they won and covered. The largest pointspread in this matchup over that same period has been 17, and that was the 10-0 Buckeyes losing outright to a 7-3 Michigan team 13-9. Ohio St. has only been a favorite in this game 6 times since 1985, and stand 3-3 ATS. They stand 7-6-1 ATS as an underdog. This should be a great game, and for one viewer, it will turn back the calendar to the first wager he ever made. Enjoy the game!
