I live in Atlanta and therefore avidly follow both the Falcons and Ga.Tech. I attended the University of Florida and am as rabid as most Gator fans. But here’s some advice — you gotta know the patterns these teams have fallen into over recent years and bet them accordingly. First: The Falcons. Never bet on these guys as favorites. Oh, they’ll cover occasionally –this year against Arizona they did. But Atlanta sucks as a favorite. However, give this bunch points and they play like worlds beaters. Likewise, Georgia Tech only seems to play well when they are dogs or barely favored. However, put them in the favorite’s role and say goodbye to your money if you stick it on the Jackets. Year after year Tech wins or covers games in which they are given only even or long odds. But put them against some crappy ACC foe and they don’t just fail to cover, they get beat! And Florida? Well, no other team this side of Notre Dame is so regularly given more points to cover than is deserved. What hideous luck for me! I can’t bet against my alma mater and enjoy the game so I’ve been left all season long to bet the totals –and even that’s no fun if I take the under!! And Florida almost never scores more than enough points to do more than eek out a win. So what’s the lesson for you: well, Detroit will cover against Atlanta and probably beat them outright. NC State is a near lock against Tech in Raliegh and Florida will be lucky to get past Vanderbilt and stands hardly any chance of covering 2 TDs. That’s just the way it works with my friggin’, flukey teams! All three lack true killer instinct.
