Premium Picks
*HOUSTON -147 over Milwaukee (7:05 Eastern)

Wes Obermuller starts for the Brewers and he's been hammered lately with a 12.10 ERA over his last three starts. Countering for Houston is Brandon Backe, 5-2 with a 3.92 ERA at home (13-2 over past two seasons in Houston). Backe is also 7-0 at home vs. division opponents over the past two years. Backing him up is one of the best bullpens in the league (3.19 ERA at home) - a big advantage over Milwaukee's which is terrible on the road. The Brew Crew is struggling defensively and they are 0-8 this season after allowing 4+ runs in 4 straight games. Houston is just the opposite - playing great defense and they are 13-3 this season after allowing 3 runs or less for 3 straight games. Favorites of -125 to -175 after allowing 2 runs or less 3 straight games against opponent after a combined score of 4 runs or less are 51-16 (76%) over the last 5 seasons. One star on the Astros.

**BOSTON -131 over Oakland (7:05 Eastern)

Boston at home only laying -131 is a gift and we'll take it. The Sox are 28-8 at home against AL West opponents over the past two seasons. They are also 19-10 vs. Oakland over the past three years and 5-3 this season. In games played at Fenway, Boston is 12-4 over Oakland and 4-1 this season. Dan Haren does come in looking impressive but Boston's offense can overcome him. They are scoring 5.7 per game vs. righties and 6.1 per game at home. Oakland is averaging just 3.6 per game over their last seven and that just aint gonna cut it. Two stars on the Sawx.

*Detroit +191 over LA ANAHEIM (10:05 Eastern)

Detroit gave us a +210 victory two nights ago so why not again here? Ervin Santana has pitched well at home but Roman Colon as also pitched well, putting up a 3.34 ERA in his starts this year. Detroit's offense can keep them in this one as they are scoring 5.7 per game over their last seven games. Anaheim is barely over .500 as a big favorite of -150 or more this season. The flat out letdown when they are expected to win big. And, they are just 12-15 at home vs. losing teams in the second half of this season. Very nice value again to night on Detroit and we'll back them for one star tonight.

How much to bet? I recommend 1% of your bankroll for every star. A one-star pick = 1% of bankroll. A five-star pick = 5% of bankroll. It is strongly recommended that you never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any given game! Remember, there are no such thing as locks. Never bet over your head and you'll live to see another day. Approach your bets as an investment that grows steadily over the long-term. For more, see my write-up on Bankroll Management.
