Oakland
is 5-1 at home against Seattle this season. No
wonder, given the Mariners' road woes. We get great
value here this afternoon due to Felix Hernandez
going for Seattle. Despite his great pitching this
year, his team's record with him on the mound is
less than impressive. Joe Blanton goes for the
A's and he's been damn good himself, posting a
3.54 overall ERA that has been 0.86 over his last
three starts. Oakland is the much better team,
at home. Their offense is head and shoulders about
Seattle's and they do especially well in day-games
(5.6 runs per game, 30-17 record). Finally, home
favorites batting <.265 with
a hot starting pitcher (WHIP <1.000 over his
last 3 starts) facing
a good starting pitcher are
49-17 (74%) since 1997. One star on Oakland.
