The Angels pitching staff is tired and tonight they must start the worst of the bunch. Paul Byrd is barely over .500 on the season and he has a 7.07 ERA over his last three starts. Meanwhile, Jose Contreras has been phenomenal recently, going 15-3 in the second half of the season and 3-0 over his last three, averaging 8.2 innings per start and less than one run per start. The White Sox this season are 27-5 at home as a big favorite of -175 or more. Road underdogs of +175 to +250 that are allowing 4.7 or less runs/game on the season facing a poor offensive team that is scoring <4.7 runs/game on the season are 7-50 since 1997. Teams installed as big favorites of -175 to -250 despite hitting below .265 when facing a good starting pitcher (ERA <4.20) are an amazing 46-4 since 1997. Two stars on the Sox here.
