#7 L'OURAGAN
(ML=5/2)
L'OURAGAN - This
campaigner
coming off
a sharp try
in the last
thirty days
is a solid
contender in
my book. This
trainer brings
horses to the
grass fit and
ready to go,
winning over
20 pct of the
time under
similar conditions.
Failed backers
as the public
choice in her
last start.
Ran well considering
the rating
earned was
good enough
to make her
one of the
contenders
in today's
contest. Ran
a nice speed
figure of 71
on Apr 17th.
Followed it
up with another
speed rating
of 70. Either
effort is good
enough to win
this race.
A definite
class advantage
goes to this
horse. A good
indication
she will be
very competitive
in this grass
race.

#8 AIR BRUSH
(ML=7/2)
AIR BRUSH - Strong
winning percentage
this rider
and handler
tandem have
been putting
together. This
gelding is
in exceptional
condition right
now. Ended
up third last
time around
the track and
comes back
quickly.

#2 GHOSTZAPPER
GHOSTZAPPER was
scheduled to
make his seasonal
debut in the
Oaklawn Handicap
last month,
but a sinus
problem prevented
him from starting
there. Ordinarily
you do not
see a horse
making its
first start
of the year
in the "Met
Mile",
but the race's
stature and
Ghostzapper's
ability call
for a break
from the usual.
Ghostzapper
was all the
rage in horse
racing last
year, especially
after the Smarty
Jones' Triple
Crown bid was
foiled. It
wasn't until
after the Belmont
Stakes that
Ghostzapper
made his 2004
debut, easily
handling an
overmatched
group in the
Tom Fool. He
has won five
straight ...
all in "POWER
RUN FASHION," earning
outstanding
+100 TrackMaster
PLUS Speed
Ratings for
each of those
races ... about
the only "negative" that
I see here
is the fact
that he has
not raced for
some 211 days,
with his last
outing coming
on Breeders'
Cup Day at
Lone Star Park
in Texas ..
he, however,
has had no
fewer than
a dozen solid
workouts in
preparation
for his 2005
debut, and
both his Jockey,
Javier Castellano,
and his trainer,
Robert Frankel
have been "raving" about
his efforts
.. Castellano
by the way,
has been in
his irons on
8 previous
occasions,
hitting the
board in each,
winning 7 times!
About the only
chance for
an upset could
come from #6
FOREST DANGER,
who comes off
back-to-back "POWER
RUN WINS" in
his last two
starts ...
Jockey John
Velazquez has
been in his
irons on 4
previous occasions
... winning
each .. Velazquez
is back for
his 5th ride
today
