Complimentary Picks

***Memphis -3 vs. St. Joseph's

You know I've been a big Memphis fan in this tournament. Both of these teams come into this game riding major winning streaks, however I'll side with the Tigers as they will have the advantage here. St. Joe's has reeled off eight wins in their last nine games, mainly thanks to their strong defensive play. However they have managed to hold their opponents to just 56 ppg over their last five. But their offense is terrible as they have scored more than 60 points in just one of their last four contests. They won't be able to limit the Tigers offense like that tonight - an offense which is on fire right now. Memphis is 6-1 in their last seven games, losing only in the C-USA championship against Louisville and we all know how the Cardinals are doing right now. They are 7-0 ATS over that span. They have scored more than 80 points in five of those seven games. The lowest number they reached in that stretch was 74 points against Louisville. The Tigers are 15-6 are the top team left in this tournament. They take control of this one early and cruise to victory. Take Memphis for three stars.

**South Carolina/Maryland UNDER 150

South Carolina has kept games low this season, averaging just 134 total points per game. Maryland games are going a lot higher (158.4 per game) but they've slowed down a bit lately (nearly four points per game less over their last five). They're offense has slowed and their defense has improved. South Carolina has held their last four opponents under 68 points per game. Non-conference games in which the total is between 150 and 159.5 points featuring a team off 3 or more consecutive home wins have gone under the posted total to the tune of 33-14 (70%) since 1997. Two stars on this one staying under 150 points.

Pass It On

How much to bet? I recommend 1% of your bankroll for every star. A one-star pick = 1% of bankroll. A five-star pick = 5% of bankroll. It is strongly recommended that you never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any given game! Remember, there are no such thing as locks. Never bet over your head and you'll live to see another day. Approach your bets as an investment that grows steadily over the long-term. For more, see my write-up on Bankroll Management.
