Miami Marlins vs Oakland Athletics

Miami is 3,000 miles from home on a 4-9 run. The offense is 23rd in runs scored, 28th in on-base percentage, 29th in slugging, and 17th in steals, while the pitching is 25th in ERA (4.72) and 21st in the pen (4.39 ERA). They've lost all six starts made by Trevor Rogers (4.31 ERA) and the Marlins are 6-18 after a loss. Meanwhile, Oakland is on an 8-3 run winning six times as an underdog. Yet another rebuilding job by Oakland is starting to pay off as the Athletics have won four in a row and they have allowed only three runs their past three games, including a 4-0 victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday. The bullpen has nine saves with a 2.45 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP and JP Sears will start tonight's game. Sears had three good outings in a row before being roughed up by Baltimore his last start. This will be just his second start at home and he allowed one run on two hits in five innings against St. Louis in the other one. Miami is 1-13 against left-handed starters this season and 4-9 overall on the road. Ryan Weathers has given up 17 runs (15 earned) on 29 hits in 29 2/3 innings. Weathers allowed six runs in four innings in a 12-9 loss to Washington on Sunday. Miami's bullpen has only five saves and a 1.46 WHIP. Take the Athletics as a Max Play.

Oakland lost its third straight and the hapless Athletics have scored more than two runs just twice their past 10 games and they have been outscored 16-1 in this series against the Marlins. Luis Arraez had three doubles, two singles and five RBIs in Miami's 12-1 win on Saturday and he now is batting .390. The Marlins have won seven of 10 and are within three games of first-place Atlanta in the NL East and they have Sandy Alcantara on the mound today and he has a .210 opponent batting average in six home starts this season. Only one Oakland hitter has ever seen Alcantara, who hasn't been as dominant as he was last year, but he has generally given the Marlins six or seven innings. The Athletics have lost 45 of their past 55 games overall and 27 of 36 versus NL East opponents. Miami has won seven in a row versus right-handed starters. Take the Marlins as a Max Play
